So, this time, it's Arai's RX-K. Date: 1st June, Wednesday.
This time, I was still late but made it just in time to help out in the early stages of the progress. This is the effect of using the paint remover. A messy progress that is kind of important I guess.
We also learnt something that day. You can't spam the remover on plastic objects. It will "eat" into the material. It will actually burn your skin too if you're not careful.
Everybody who were there helped out to get it done as quick as possible. It was a tedious process. The surface needs to be well prepared because it has a lot of influence on the overall look.
Looking through the mess, I found this cute sketch made by the boys. These are the ideas that they had in mind.

Soon enough, everyone got hungry so Mimie helped out in getting us food.
After a quick lunch, everything resumed as planned. I was amused because I thought the guitars were there in case we got bored at any point of time. Fact is, both of them came down to do a duo. But nonetheless, the more the merrier I guess.
The side boxes are quite difficult to handle. One, it is because we only learn that we cant use paint remover on it. Secondly, the RX-K emblem cant be removed. Third, it is plastic.
While doing that, Lam and I finished on the tank. We removed as much paint as possible and then let it really dry up. As procedures goes for the side boxes.
And prime it! Primers are used to seal up the surface. Cover up any small gaps, rust prone areas and it also helps in making sure the paint actually sticks to the surface.
After the first few layers of primer, the surface needs sanding to be made smooth. Arai and Lam doing that while Fauzi and I seal up the side box emblem with masking tape.

Zul and Alyfe came in later that evening. Zul was busy with his bike, given by someone.

We started on the side box primer as quick as possible. While on the otherside...

We had to go to the nearest shops once in a while because our stuffs kept finishing at different timings. And basically to get water and food.
Don't worry, he's not the only one who did this. The rest of us did lie down on the seat in turns. Except that unlike him, we didn't fall asleep!
We had to take care of the paint and condition. Not forgetting, the weather that evening was drizzling. After letting it dry, we carefully stick in the tapes! This had to be done carefully because these lines could actually be obvious.
To be honest, this is the part where things look kind of ugly. You know, with all those newspaper wrappings, and scattered paint. It gave me a some sort of an uneasy feeling.
Since the side boxes doesn't need a second colour, we straight away lacquered it. Using Mimie's technique, it is pretty shiny.
It's already dark so drying takes up a longer time. While waiting, we decided to polish up the bikes and cleaning things up. By the time, people are anxiously waiting to open up the tapes anddddd

As usual, in any diy workmanship without professional equipments, we had to cover up some glitches.
The few of us who helped out in sealing the emblems were pretty excited on this one.
We were happy that things turned out close to prefect.
It is nice to see the everyone helping out. And after fixing things up!
JENG JENG JENG! This time round there was no police officers busting in on us like last time.
We headed to our usual lepak area and had a small photoshoot of the two RX-Ks,
We had a great time again. It was satisfying looking at the end result. Everything was smooth and ended well. :)
